“Lodz weaves a new path” – by fDi Magazine30.01.2016
In April/May 2015 issue of fDi Magazine, one can find an article about the city of Lodz and Lodz Special Economic Zone.
Michał Kaczmarski, Deputy Editior of a British prestigious magazine, visited Lodz and Lodz SEZ in February to learn about the activity of the Zone: business, educational as well as cultural.
“Lodz SEZ offers incentives for investors that decide to locate their companies within the zone. However, unlike most f its counterparts, LSEZ doubles up as an investment promotion agency as well as industrial zone. Such an approach helped win it recognition from fDi Magazine, which named LSEZ one of the top 20 zones in the wolrd in its Global Free Zones of the Future 2012/2013 ranking, and the best in Europe for small and medium-sized enterprises in its 2014 Global Free Zones of the Year awards” – writes Michał Kaczmarski.
The editor appreciated the Zone’s engagement in vocational education, involvement in opening of the British International School of the University of Lodz and a strong focus on corporate social responsibility. “Grohman’s industrial comples was, from its beginnings, designed a place where people not only work, but also live. We decided t bring that tradition back” – Kaczmarski quotes Edyta Sancewicz, director at Lodz SEZ’s Department of Development and Strategy.
Apart from talking with Lodz SEZ’s team, local chapter of PwC and Adam Trim, the head of BISUL, he also visited two investors located within the Zone – an IT company Ericpol and a well-known producer of ceramic tiles – Ceramika Paradyż.
The editor saw a change in the whole city. According to him, “Lodz weaves a new path”. One can find something old and something new in the city. The flagship projects of the city that are under construction (e.g. Trasa W-Z, Lodz Fabryczna railway station, EC1) are not the reasons to complain about. “People are hungry for change”.
And in Lodz, they are the witnesses of these changes for better every day!
